Transcience 2.0 (2023) is an experimental video/installation/video art exploring the evolving aesthetics of the digital age. It examines the profound influence of mobile technology on visual culture, time/space perception, and interaction. It is remixed, extended version of the video made in 2022 – this strategy alignes with my agile approach to art practice (read more in my Agile Art Manifesto).
Using abstract imagery and a minimalist, subdued aesthetic, I tried to immerse viewers in a contemplative audiovisual experience. The video fluid compositions and ambient score evoke the fleeting nature of digital media, mirroring the ephemeral and constantly shifting relationship between the digital and physical realms.
The artwork was inspired by exptensive netnographic research and user observations, so it reflects on how mobile screens reshape the way we engage with images—altering formats, interactions, and perception. The title merges transience and science, highlighting the film’s analytical approach to contemporary image culture and its intersection with technology. More about the project and methodology here.
Presentation: The work follows an adaptive, low-waste approach, making it both scalable and responsive to its surroundings. Transcience 2.0 can function as a site-specific installation that incorporates its environment or be presented as a film in a cinematic setting, demonstrating its flexibility and sustainability within contemporary media art.
