Transcience (2022) screening during Animator International Film Festival in Poznań, 2023
Trancience (2022) is an abstract video installation exploring the ephemeral nature of digital screens. It was inspired by the minimalism of early experimental cinema and the principles of Cinéma Pur, utilizing raw black-and-white forms and subtle gradients to examine the shifting dynamics of digital perception and extensive netnographic research. In effect is investigates screens as fluid interfaces that continuously mediate and distort our perception of reality. The film’s abstract compositions reflect how digital imagery is fragmented, reconstructed, and shaped by technological filters and user interactions. The title combines “transience” and “science,” emphasizing the analytical nature of the piece, which invites contemplation on the relationship between digital and physical realities.
The visuals are accompanied by an ambient soundtrack by Tim Prebble (CC-BY), which invites viewers into a contemplative audiovisual experience, highlighting the fleeting yet powerful presence of screens in our lives. Through its minimalist yet immersive aesthetic, I tried to encourage reflection on the evolving and often invisible influence of digital technology on human perception.
Project recognition: in 2023 the video was selected to the official Punto Y Raya ABSTRACT ART IN MOTION International Film Festival. It was also nominated in the Best Experimental Short Film category during AFF International Film Festival in Toronto (2023).
