Water[false] is an abstract, experimental video art/installation. The title plays with the word ‘waterfalls’ hinting at cascades of images, but twisted into false water — water that is not real, but simulated. Besides computer animation and creative coding techniques, the film uses AI-generated textures that resemble flowing water, which relates to the lightness of images concept and its ties with hydrological systems – ease of producing unnecessary artificial images when we suffer from water shortages. By multiplying and transforming simple geometric forms filled with digital, water-like surfaces, the reflects on the paradox of excess: the proliferation of unnecessary images in the age of generative AI and the hidden ecological cost behind them. What looks immaterial and fluid carries a very real material burden — the energy and water consumed by data infrastructures.

Soundtrack: Dark Water by Podington Bear (CC BY-NC, Free Music Archive), an ambient soundscape deepening the contemplative tension between natural fluidity and its simulated counterpart.

Presentation: the installation is designed for flexible screenings, adapting to various spaces and screen sizes, and its dynamic interaction with the environment allows for evolving experiences in each exhibition. Read more about my approach in Agile Art Manifesto.
